Puffin to worry about – Story behind the artwork
Inspired by a photo I took on my visit to Skomer Island in May, 2021. It was a magical and very adorable day watching these tiny little creatures fly onto the wild and daisy filled cliffs, beaks filled with sand eels ready to feed their babies. I found it so funny watching them land and taking sometimes up to 10 minutes to find their burrows! I have named this painting ‘Puffin to worry about’ as a bit of a juxtaposition to what I experienced there. These birds where always running around manically trying to find their burrows and the process of landing, finding their burrow and taking off seemed to be a very stressful experience for them. They really are ridiculous birds but incredible hunters! I feel like my puffin painting is both striking and calming with the colour palette inspired by the rugged cliffs surrounding their home.
